Use a Simple Troubleshooting Order
- Check whether the problem affects one website, one device or every device.
- Confirm Wi-Fi or Ethernet is connected and Airplane mode is off.
- Restart the affected device.
- Power-cycle the modem or ONT and router in the correct order.
- Test near the router and then test with Ethernet when possible.
- Check for an ISP outage before changing advanced settings.
Record the Result
Write down the error message, affected devices, router-light status and speed-test result. These details help separate a device problem from a router, cable or provider problem.
