This error means DNS could not return a usable address for the requested domain. The cause may be a typo, expired domain, DNS outage or device setting.
Confirm the Domain
Check the spelling and try the same address on another device or mobile data. If one domain fails everywhere, its DNS record or registration may be the cause. If many domains fail only on one device, continue with local fixes.
Refresh the Connection
- Restart Chrome and the device.
- Disable VPN or proxy temporarily.
- Restart the router if several devices have DNS trouble.
- On Windows, open Command Prompt as administrator and run
ipconfig /flushdns. - Reconnect and test again.
Check DNS Configuration
Return manually entered DNS settings to automatic, or test a well-known public resolver if the ISP resolver is confirmed unavailable. Change one setting at a time and record the original value.
Check Security and Local Overrides
Security software, parental controls, DNS filtering and the local hosts file can intentionally block domains. Do not disable security permanently; test briefly and restore protection. On a managed work device, contact the administrator.
