Webcam Test

Check your camera in a large, live preview.

Your camera preview appears here

Press Start Camera, then allow camera access in your browser.

Camera is off. Permission has not been requested.

Your camera preview stays in your browser. This tool does not record or upload video. Stop Camera ends the stream. Press Esc to leave full screen.

Check your webcam before a call

  1. Press Start Camera and allow camera access for this website when your browser asks.
  2. Check the preview for focus, lighting and framing. Face a light source instead of placing a bright window behind you.
  3. If several cameras are available, choose one from the camera selector that appears after permission is granted.
  4. Use Mirror preview to change how the image is displayed, or Full Screen for a larger inspection.
  5. Press Stop Camera when you finish.

Understand the camera details

When available, the status shows the resolution and frame rate reported by the browser. The tool requests up to 1920 × 1080 as a preference; the camera, browser and driver decide the actual stream. A high resolution does not guarantee good focus or lighting. Mirror mode only changes this preview.

If the preview is blank

Check the camera cover, browser permission and operating-system camera settings. Close other apps using the camera, reconnect an external webcam, then try Start Camera again. Permission denied, no camera found and camera-in-use failures require different checks; the status message helps identify the next step.

What this test cannot confirm

This preview does not test your microphone, internet upload speed or a meeting app’s camera settings. A camera working here can still need to be selected separately in your video-call app. Full-screen support depends on the browser; the large preview remains available when full screen is unsupported.

The tool requests video only and does not record or upload the preview. Your browser may remember the permission. Stop Camera ends the active stream; you can revoke permission from your browser’s site settings.
