iPhone Connected to Wi-Fi but No Internet: A Practical Troubleshooting Guide

When your iPhone joins Wi-Fi but nothing loads, the next useful question is whether the problem follows the phone or stays with the network. Keep a note of what works before making changes.

Confirm where the problem occurs

In the Settings app, select Wi-Fi and inspect the connected network’s name. Make sure it belongs to the router you intend to use. Try a couple of unrelated webpages from beside that router, then repeat the check on a second device.

For example, if both your laptop and iPhone cannot browse, resetting the iPhone alone is unlikely to resolve the shared problem. If the laptop works, test the iPhone on a different trusted Wi-Fi network to narrow the investigation.

Restart before resetting

Restart the iPhone. If the problem affects the home network, restart the router and modem according to their instructions. Let them reconnect before testing again.

Understand the reset before using it

A network reset is a later troubleshooting step. Before choosing it, have your Wi-Fi passwords available: the phone will forget saved wireless connections and their passwords. Cellular configuration also returns to its defaults, along with VPN and APN settings. For a phone managed by your employer or school, speak with its administrator first.

To locate the option, open Settings and choose General. Inside Transfer or Reset iPhone, tap Reset, then look for Reset Network Settings. Check the selected command carefully before confirming; the aim is to reset networking, not erase the phone.

Choose the right support route

Contact the internet provider if several devices cannot get online. Contact Apple if the iPhone cannot connect across working Wi-Fi networks. After browsing returns, run Free Internet Test and record the result alongside the connection used.
